Match News and Current Form
Catholic United were held to a 2-2 draw last weekend against Wakering Sports, with James Warder scoring twice on his return to the starting eleven after missing the 2025/26 campaign through injury.
Eamonn Kearney will be keen for his side to continue their excellent home record with the Essex Bhoys having gone unbeaten in their first 12 home league matches of the 2025/26 season, picking up ten wins and two draws, while scoring 52 goals.
However, Catholic’s impressive unbeaten home run came to an end in the final fixture of last season, as they lost 4-2 to derby rivals Old Southendian.
Meanwhile, Harold Wood got off to a winning start beating Barnston 3-2 in their opening match of the season, with Max Shephard, Gerald Okolo and Joseph-Rene Opoku getting on the scoresheet.
Charlie Portway’s side proved to be difficult opponents away from home for much of last season, before becoming more inconsistent during the run-in, winning one, drawing three and losing one from their final five league matches.
Head-to-head History
Catholic United were victorious in the previous home meeting against Harold Wood, winning 3-0 and securing the Essex Olympian Premier Division title.

Players to Watch
James Warder scored twice against Wakering Sports and will play an important role in Catholic United’s attack against Harold Wood. The last time Warder faced 'The Wood' on the road, he scored twice to inspire a commanding 5-1 away victory back in 2024.
For the visitors, Oliver Portway will need to be tracked closely, with the attacker capable of posing a threat when given space in the final third. Portway made an impact in key top six clashes at the end of last campaign, most impressively scoring against Corinthians.
Gerald Okolo also comes into this match following a standout performance, scoring and being named player of the match in Harold Wood’s 3-2 win over Barnston. Okolo’s pace and movement could cause a constant threat to Kearney’s back line.
